Alaria is a word coined from two Latin roots: "ala," wing, and "aria," song. Thus, Alaria is "winged song." The name is reflected in the ensemble's preference for the lyrical in music of all periods. Every year since 1986 the ensemble has presented a series of concerts in beautiful Weill Recital hall at Carnegie Hall, an ideal chamber music space.
