Violinist Yuri Vodovoz is also an accomplished conductor, violist, chamber musician and teacher. He is Artistic Coordinator of Alaria and since joining the group in 1993 has had considerable influence in shaping Alaria's concert repertoire. He also is artistic director and a conductor of Adelphi chamber orchestra. Mr. Vodovoz has concertized extensively throughout the US, Europe, Israel, and South America. His Washington debut at Kennedy Center in 1988, and his NY recital debut at Merkin Hall in1990, were met with critical acclaim. His playing has been described as "breathtaking' (Washington Post), "finespun lyricism" and "high-powered technique" (NY Times) and "warm and romantic" (Chicago Sun-Times). He is currently on the faculties of Mannes College of Music and Fordham University, and has also served as artist/faculty of the Ameropa Festival (Czech Republic) and Auxere Festival (France).
Diliana Momtchilova, was born in Sofia, Bulgaria to a family of musicians, made her debut at the age of nine as soloist with the Sofia Chamber Orchestra, and has won numerous prizes and awards. She has performed concerti with many distinguished ensembles in her native country, and, as winner of the 1998 Concerto Competition at the Juilliard School, most recently with the Juilliard Orchestra. Ms. Momtchilova has to her credit many chamber music appearances both in Europe and the United States, and can be heard on recordings for Bulgarian National Radio and Television, the Balkanton Recording Company, and Deutsche Welle. She has performed with Alaria since 1998.
David Oei soloed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic at age nine and has performed with major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore Symphonies. Winner of the Concert Artists Guild, WQXR Young Artists, Young Musicians Foundation and Paul Ulanowsky Chamber Pianists competitions, he has performed with the St. Luke's and Orpheus Chamber Ensembles and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Founding director of the Salon Chamber Soloists and a founding member of the Aspen Soloists and Intimate P.D.Q. Bach he is also currently a member of the Festival Chamber Music and Elysium chamber ensembles. A former artist at Bargemusic and Chamber Music Northwest he has performed at various festivals including Caramoor, Sitka, Bard, Washington Square and Kuhmo. Television credits include Leonard Bernstein's Young People's Concerts, CBS News Sunday Morning and the Today Show. He has recorded for Delos, ADDA, Vanguard, CRI, Pro Arte, Arabesque, Albany, Grenadilla, Festival Chamber Music and New World Records. He is a faculty member of Hoff-Barthelson Music School and Mannes College Of Music.
